About

Hello there! I’m Jeremy. Thanks for stopping by.

Right now, I’m a computer science student at the UBC in Vancouver, Canada. I’m interested in how complex problems (most of which I don’t fully understand just yet) are solved, whether in the domain of data mining and machine learning, or in building scalable and distributed systems.

In a previous life, I graduated with a law degree from the University of Cambridge, and worked in technology risk assurance/consulting at PwC.

I started off my coding journey at a hacker school in London, UK, called Makers Academy and haven’t looked back since.

Although my first coding language was Ruby – I built web apps at Makers Academy using Sinatra and Rails – I’m getting pretty decent these days at Java and am always keen to learn something new.

Did I mention that I like to build things? Oh, and writing. I like writing too.

I started this blog writing about my first steps as I learned how to code but these days, my focus is on learning to code better. This isn’t a journey which is going to end anytime soon so hang on tight, and I hope to take you through my experience from coding newbie to a software engineer job and beyond!
